This book is a fun way to educate people of the mamal world.

Cross Country Skiing in Southern California? This book has a little something for everyone. The trips range from beginner to advance. But it is not just a compilation of ski trails. It includes photos, some cross country ski history, useful information for beginners, safety tips, skiing basics, ski gear information and even tips on skiing etiquette (like what you do with a sitz mark). It also has interesting information about the area where you are skiing. Do you know the world's largest lodgepole pine is in Southern California? I have now skied to it.
And for those who cannot tolerate either cold or snow, there is even a trip to Kelso Dunes in the Mojave Desert! You ski on sand - a definite change of pace from your usual skiing venue. Ski Tours in Southern California should expand most skier's horizons.

Suspenceful book

Everyone in the office is fighting over my copy!

wonderful introductionWhile this book was never used in any classes I took, I did take an undergraduate critical thinking class in the Sociology department at CSU Sacramento at the same time that Dean Dorn was teaching there. I think he integrated some of what Andy Hiken, who taught that class, used; the structured and extensive frameworks for critical thinking excercises and other bits and pieces of the curriculum. I have read this text and others that use a similar model and find that the Dorn/Baker/Anderson book is useful, rewarding and especially interesting for use in an undergraduate environment.
